Welcome back to Neighborhood Style Showdown, our quest to determine Boston's most stylish neighborhood.
This probably comes as a surprise to no one, but the Back Bay and South End are arguably the finest shopping communities in the Bay State—which means we obviously had to match 'em together. It's up to you, our lovely Racked readers, to determine which 'hood progresses to our next round.
Let's see what each has going for it. Back Bay is peppered with the most luxe retailers on earth (Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Scoop NYC, local boutiques Serenella and Riccardi, the list goes on...), not to mention, one of the country's most expensive stores. Tree-lined streets and the Commonwealth Avenue mall are gorgeous venues to flaunt crazy good wardrobes.
But, the South End reigns supreme for trendiness. Stores and restaurants here are independently owned, filled with charisma that reflects the neighborhood. Plus, we can't discuss the South End without mentioning SoWa, the closest Boston comes to a Brooklyn Flea type outdoor market. Sure, the area may not be cutting edge anymore, but this chunk of brownstone block-after-block is heaven for the young and fabulous.
Which of these side-by-side neighborhoods gets to move forward? You decide:
