Product launches from The Grommet, including a wool pet cave ($60) and a convertible wine carrier and rack ($29.95)
The Grommet, a Somerville-based e-commerce platform, has already disrupted the way traditional online shopping works by uncovering independent makers solving everyday life hacks. Now, Boston Business Journal reports that the company is in talks with big box retailers like Target and Bath Bath & Beyond to consider installing future pop-up kiosks. Co-founder Joanne Domeniconi notes that the idea is in its early stages without any associated timeline, but the goal would be to introduce "grommets" to shoppers in-store. Given the e-retailer's adept storytelling skills in video form online, there is likely potential in translating that experience offline, showing customers a product in a hands-on manner.
