It's about time! Boston has deep roots in both the footwear biz and also spawned punk rock subcultures while harboring pure 70s rock and roll, making for a bunch of Converse and Dr. Martens devotees. And though our affection for kick-ass, weatherproof boots is longstanding, we can't say that the Brits have always held us in such high regard (you know, when we revolted against them and stuff?). But recent history has it that our friends across the Pond are reflecting back our good vibes in the form of shopping, bringing all their killer brands along for the ride.
Hi, Dr. Martens! Glad you're gracing our tree-lined shopping thoroughfare with your leather and Airwair.
Having opened less than two weeks ago, news of the Newbury Street outpost travels fast: the 3000 square foot space obviously keeps its footwear as the focal point, with accessories like satchels and shoelaces juxtaposed against an industrial design.
Here's hoping they do it big for the proper launch event, rumored to be December 6!
201 Newbury Street #1, Boston, MA 02116. (617) 585-1460. Monday-Saturday 10 am - 8 pm, Sunday 11 am - 7 pm.
