Shift your mindset toward the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Miami, and pretty much anywhere that you can sport a bathing suit without suffering from frostbite. Today, Brazilian swimwear line Sinesia Karol introduces its resort collection to Boston at Newbury Street's Serenella boutique. With roots in the flora of Karol's native Brazil—particularly orchids—the set of flattering bikinis, one-pieces, and cover-ups will definitely heat up the Back Bay on this chilly afternoon.

Tell us about the collection you'll be showing at your launch trunk show today.
The patterns are the orchids in Brazil. Brazil is the guardian of one of the greatest natural flora heritage in the world. I chose two types of orchids to work with: Guttata, which flowers in the month of March and stands out in the dunes at the edge of the beach, and Velutina, which blooms late in the summer. I want to design a collection which ?symbolizes the type of women I love to have wearing my pieces. They are stylish, casual and fun, but yet sophisticated.

Why Serenella?
First of all Boston is my second hometown. My line is simple but elegant, like Serenella. There couldn't be a better place for me to launch than here. I'm very, very happy for the opportunity to show my line.

What was the most surreal moment of showing your swimwear in Miami earlier this year?
It was when I saw my pieces on the runway. It was a dream coming true. The night was a perfect night. The breeze helped to create a beautiful beach atmosphere around my cover-ups. We had 350 guests at the Soho Beach House. I was extremely nervous but after the show it was all about having fun!

How does a Brazil transplant stay warm during a Massachusetts winter?
Escaping often to warm places keeps me happy during the winter here in New England. Because of those wonderful trips winter goes by very fast for me.

On which beaches do you hope to see Sinesia Karol in 2013?
I hope to see them all over the place. Especially here on the coast of New England where all my friends spend their summers: Nantucket, Cape Cod and Newport. Also, in my hometown Vitoria and Rio De Janeiro where we are launching my line next week. And last but not least: St. Tropez, Miami and Punta del Este in Uruguay.

The best part of being a swimwear designer is...
To be able to wear many of my own pieces. I have tried all of them.

Describe your perfect beach day.
Ah, Brazil where we have a home. My perfect day is when I have time to walk hand-in-hand with my husband and marvel at the scenery. Miles of manicured sand, the beautiful buildings around the coastline and the simplicity of the fishing village near our home. All mixed together. I love to admire the daredevil doing paragliding and kite surfing. Then we sit on the beach and we sip on smoothies made from Acai—the cult wonder berry found in the Brazilian Amazon—and watch the kids playing around in the refreshing water on a nice summer day! That's what I call a perfect day!

Hit up the launch party during your lunch break! 11am—3pm. RSVP ASAP to events@serenella-boston.com or call (617) 262-5569.
