Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In a move that Mayor Menino dubs "gourmet Walgreens," the mega-chain has designated Boston as one of its flagship locations, and gourmet it will be. Set to open Spring 2013 in the old Borders location at Downtown Crossing, the space offers a lot of history and square footage. Alongside its typical drugstore setup, this Walgreens will also showcase a grocery department with fresh produce and booze as well as quick dining options including a sushi chef, juice bar, and frozen yogurt section.

But enough about the fun munchies—on to the cosmetics! A somewhat futuristic "Look Boutique" allows shoppers to snap their portrait and virtually try on makeup, aiding you in the decision between that orange red and coral red lipstick. You can even share the image with your friends on Facebook and vote. Also making us squeal: a full service nail salon.

Hopefully the reconstruction functions as a new community center for this up-and-coming neighborhood. Are there any particular needs that you think Walgreens will satisfy? Let us know in the comments.
