As 2012 draws to a close, we're surveying our friends in the fashion industry about the year's biggest news stories and most exciting developments. Earlier, we looked at the worst trends, but let's end the week on a festive note: best parties! Readers, let us know what you think in the comments.
Pretty people at the MFA party: Karlie and Derek via Darren McCollester/Getty.
Q: Best party of 2012?
Liana Krupp, communications consultant and New Brahmin founder: Dinner with Mario Testino in the Koch Gallery at the MFA.
Amanda Knorr, Spreedia founder: The opening of Saloon in Davis Square in March. It wasn't a fashion-focused event, but the speakeasy atmosphere is very "Boardwalk Empire," and they served drinks that night as if prohibition were imminent.
Renata Certo-Ware, Scorpion Disco and freelance fashion writer/stylist: Either the rag & bone opening party in April, or the Mario Testino opening at the MFA. Gisele sightings at both.
Lisa Pierpont, BOLDFACERS founder: Why, the BOLDFACERS Stylemakers pop-up store and DJ party, of course!
Christina Pierce, Christina K. Pierce Boutique Fashion Agency owner: Hermes on Nantucket was probably one of the best this year. Benefited the Berkshire Hills Music Academy.
Lani Zervas, Mon Petit Chou Chou blogger: The rag & bone opening. It's not often we get the designers in town for the launch (we were spoiled by Michael Bastian's launch of Gant too). I remember several bloggers fawning around one Julian Edelman and of course, I left early before Tom Brady and Gisele made an appearance. But I did pickup a gorgeous dress that night. C'est la vie!
Heather White, Lifestyle Marketing at PLNDR: The rag & bone launch party. It was well-attended (with cameos by Tom Brady, Gisele, and Julian Edelman—who's a total sweetheart), I loved meeting Marcus and David and hearing about their boarding school days, plus the space is phenomenal and the champagne was endless.
Lindsey Canant, Junior Copywriter at Joss and Main: Without a doubt, the Mario Testino opening at the MFA. Anna Wintour, Hamish Bowles, Derek Blasberg, and Karlie Kloss? Beyond.
