North River Outfitter must be planning a Beacon Hill takeover. The original outpost serves New England's preppy community dutifully, stocking the latest wide variety of goods from Boston-loved lines like Milly, Alden, Barbour, Vineyard Vines, and dozens more. In just the last year, it expanded to a kids store directly next door, and as of late November last year, a sport store across Charles street.
Though NRO Sport didn't open to a huge fanfare, local enthusiasts of both popular and offbeat sports (especially folks hitting the slopes) certainly took note of the opportunity to buy gear right in the heart of Boston rather than online or at big box stores in the 'burbs. The corner boutique offers a selection of functional soft goods from brands for everyone in the family, representing running, skiing, and sailing, among others. Expect to find plenty of KJUS, Helly Hansen, Brooks, Saucony, New Balance, Dale of Norway, and Maui Jim.
A quick visit to the shop revealed the beginning of an outwear sale at 30% off men's and women's with further discounts to come. Isn't this chilly weather a good excuse to grab a coat?
