United Scents of America Introduces Its Bay State Fragrance

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

United Scents of America is slowly rolling out a state-inspired set of fragrances, each one meant to evoke a place-specific nostalgia for its wearer. Massachusetts is joining the roster of California, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Texas, and will be launching at Shake the Tree next Thursday, February 21. Fortunately this eau de toilette hits notes of cranberries, bergamot, sage and red oak, not Downtown Crossing in sweltering summer heat, dried beer at Fenway, or the Back Bay after Marathon Monday.

From 7 to 9pm, stop by the shop and toast the offbeat indie scent with the founders over limoncello, snacks, and free samples. On another note, we also wouldn't mind selling like the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the inside of Mike's Pastry, or spring flowers at the Public Garden. Perfumers, are you listening?
