The Greenway Open Market, SoWa's little sister, is making its third season debut tomorrow on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, and it serves as more than just a Saturday option for the independent vendors making up its merchandise. We're sure that like us, many of you have only spent time on the fringes of this 15-acre ribbon-shaped park bordering Boston's downtown waterfront—hailing cabs, crossing from Government Center to the ICA, seeking Italian eats in the North End. From tomorrow through October 26, a similar bazaar of over 50 vendors will line the expanse of the Greenway, including one of the region's mobile retail pioneers, The Fashion Truck.
While the original SoWa Open Market in the South End feels like the pits of hell on a sweltering summer day, the Greenway boasts shady cover and a cool ocean breeze. Your favorite food trucks keep you satiated as you shop leather goods, bath and body products, and a lot of dog item purveyors (treats, accessories, and of course, clothing). Additionally, the Greenway is one of the Boston venues to be most accommodating of mobile retail, so the blueprint it sets as summer progresses should be interesting to follow.
