While the Back Bay boasts world class shopping, we also love to poke around our city's distinct neighborhoods for stores with flavor and finesse. We've asked some local gurus to offer hidden gems so you can try out boutiques beyond the usual suspects. Make room in your retail repertoire for these beloved spots.
Nicole Kanner is a Boston PR extraordinaire, juggling clients like The Urban Grape, Island Creek Oysters, and Trina's Starlite Lounge under the name All Heart PR. Sarra, a cosmetic studio on her beauty roster, is a Southie-based spot known primarily for its brow services, but it also boats an in-house line and top notch team. Here's what attracted Nicole to Sarra from the very start:
Sarra opened their South Boston studio about five years ago in a gorgeous 1800 square foot loft space that boasts floor to ceiling windows, individual workstations for hands-on education, and a chic lounge-like atmosphere that will make you never want to leave. Sarra specializes in precision brow-shaping, which means no wax. Each brow appointment takes about 30 minutes and every hair is considered. Lauren and her talented team of Jenn Opeka and Sadie Sham all know what looks best to compliment your facial features.
But what they do more of in the studio are make-up lessons and applications. Want to learn how to make the perfect cat-eye or find the perfect red lip for your skin tone? Sarra does all that down to the basics—Lauren literally taught me how to apply foundation and concealer properly (I finally learned when I was 27 years old!). They take you through step-by-step and then send you home with their own line of curated makeup and products.
