Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Riding a Bicycle in a French Film

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today's pick comes from Racked NY editor Nicola Fumo.

Linus Bikes Roadster Classic, $495 at LinusBike.com. Starring in your own private foreign movie, free.

I went to the independent movie theatre a lot in middle school. Striped tees, gamine pants, and—yes—a scarf around my neck happened. I think a bit of wanting to be Amelie or Audrey has never left (the bangs I cut during that phase have remained intact) and riding my pared-down Linus roadster makes me feel like I'm starring in my own foreign film.

Unfortunately, biking around New York City is a little less "baguette in my basket and smiles from handsome strangers" and a little more "aggressively trying to not get killed by a cabbie making a quick right turn." The soft leather handlebars and smooth ride help me forget.
