Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
On the Wicked Peacock blog, owner Silvana Costa gives us the rundown of making her recently opened Rockport boutique sign. She hired the team behind Best Dressed Signs, a husband and wife led-group that hand paints all sorts of signage (with plenty of custom lettering and gold leaf!) in that old timey tradition and often, vintage look.
Best Dressed Signs transformed the graphic design work of Amanda Williams Galvin into a wooden oval sign hanging from 17 Dock Square where the accessories shop is located. Read through for a step-by-step process and an interview with Meredith (the wife in the Best Dressed duo).
