Madewell—every twenty-something's go-to for jeans, dresses, and buttondowns—opened its doors at The Mall at Chestnut Hill today, which should prove exciting for ladies situated between Newbury Street and Natick. Walking through the airy space this morning revealed a focus on all things denim, a jewelry bar, pocket tee and chambray walls, and a corner for classic booties and leather accessories. High ceilings and industrial-looking beams set the tone for classic clothing that plays off the legacy of Madewell's former life as a workwear manufacturer in New Bedford.
Each room revolves a centerpiece structure, most accented with unfinished wood trim and quirky decorations (vintage luggage, oversized spools, abstract landscape paintings). The vibe of this location differs from that of Madewell's other local spots, with a more refined aesthetic that speaks to post-collegiate women who are moving away from fast fashion and trends in favor of a solid, quality wardrobe.
