The latest plot line in the story of Chestnut Hill's retail renaissance is a new outpost of Madewell at The Mall at Chestnut Hill, opening in just a couple weeks on Tuesday, July 23. The reality is that Boston's Madewell-loving ladies either have to fight the crowds on Newbury or the traffic on Route 9 out to Natick, so an in-between option is likely to be appreciated. J.Crew, Madewell's parent company, already has a strong foothold at the mall with a sizable shop and a crewcuts boutique for the kids. We're happy to see yet a third Massachusetts home for the brand which finds inspiration—and its name—from the New Bedford workwear manufacturer of yesteryear.
