As Orchard Skateshop plants its roots on Newbury Street, one of the more iconic international skate brands is doing the same—Vans, which surprisingly has Massachusetts ties, opened its co-branded shop with New York's DQM label just a few weeks back. The 1,200 square foot store packs a punch, with industrial decor elements (including vintage Vans machinery) and reclaimed wood shelving. While the majority of the merchandise in The General is currently from the men's collections, there are select sneakers for the ladies with more women's gear on the way.
