Ever since she picked up her first Klutz Craft bead book at six years old, Hannah Blount has not stopped making jewelry. After graduating from UMass Dartmouth with a Jewelry and Metals degree, the Boston-based jewelry designer created her eponymous line of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. Her newest collection is called "Mirage," an assortment of simple and elegant rings.

"I really love carving and I wanted to make a line of more traditional style rings while still having my aesthetic," says Hannah. The beauty of "Mirage" lies in its simplicity: semi-precious and precious stones daintily set on bands with abstract silhouettes, like rolling hills in the distance she says. "It reminds me of those mirages of the hills on really hot days."

Rings range from $58 for a simple "rolling hill" sterling silver band to $2,000 for a classic white diamond, 10k yellow gold ring. Each ring is unique and can be worn alone or stacked one on top of another.

This collection permitted Hannah to play around with stones and settings. "I never really took aquamarine very seriously as a stone until very recently," says the designer. Her favorite piece is Mirage Study #2 with Aquamarine. "The yellow gold, that very soft color with the baby blue, it becomes a really pretty combination."

Right now, "Mirage" consists only of rings, but bangles could be on the horizon. In any case, Hannah has her hands full as she's already planned out a new collection that will be very different from this one. All of Hannah's designs are handmade out of her Somerville studio and sold at various retailers in Boston or on her website.—Laura Childs
