Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Next month brings the third annual Racked Awards, and while our gala does not include Joan Rivers or the Fashion Police, it does include you, our readers. This is the first time we're anointing Boston retailers "best of" in eight different categories, three of which you'll vote on here with the other five determined by Racked's editorial team. The local winners, along with a full nationwide roster of champs, will be announced on Thursday, October 10, in tandem with a party in NYC. Warby Parker won our Best New Store Golden Turban award, Ministry of Supply took the win for Best Menswear, and today, you'll vote on which shop is So Hot Right Now.
First up is Dress, the beloved Newbury Street boutique for cool designers (Vanessa Bruno and Dannijo among them) which just reincarnated itself on Charles Street in Beacon Hill. Next contender is South End mainstay Flock, the recipient of a shiny new website with full e-commerce capability (a rarity for a small indie boutique). Olives & Grace is making waves with its mission to highlight gourmet and quirky gift "makers," finding itself quite at home with the foodie-meets-style crowd. High end suburban retailer Viola Lovely opened its first Boston store to much praise, and finally, Vira in Beacon Hill always captures the attention of anyone looking for unique apparel at wallet-happy prices.
Who will it be? Poll closes in 24 hours! (Wednesday, September 25, at 11:30am.)
