While there is no shortage of indie markets in Cambridge, there are arguably none as accessible as SoWa Open Market's latest endeavor, smack in the middle of Harvard. With the no-frills title Cambridge Open Market, this new cluster of locally-based vendors will run every Friday (11:30am to 5:30pm) as a precursor to the same group's Saturday market on the Greenway and signature Sunday setup in the South End.
Today marks the first session, complete with food trucks for shopping sustenance, tucked away behind Harvard Yard just a few minutes walking from the T (you might even soak up some genius on the historic quad). The official website notes that should the market be a success through the end of October, it hopes to return in 2014 with a full season like its sister marketplaces.
