They may be a certain "Opening Day" at Fenway marked in your calendar—but for product creators prepping to launch their goods, there might be a different kind of opening day. Local e-commerce platform The Grommet, a highly curated spin on an Etsy-like marketplace, is running its second annual Product Pitch competition, with its final stage going down at the historic ballpark on March 20. Product submissions for everyday hacks are due this Friday, February 7, in two categories (15 "players" per category, totaling 30 participants): Ready for Crowdfunding and Ready for Market.
Video entries will be combed through following Friday's deadline, with a voting phase from February 16 to February 28 to determine three finalists in each category, who will then present their pitch at Fenway for a chance to win the competition and subsequent start-up resources (including a launch on The Grommet). Last yr winners: THINX "performance underwear" and runner-up was Frogglez children's goggles Last year's winner was THINX, performance underwear with a social mission. The runner-up was Frogglez, dubbed "no hassle swim goggles" for children. Are you ready to put your idea on film?
