Though somewhat obscure outside the fashion industry, London-based brand Peter Pilotto is a shining star in the business, having won multiple awards from the British Fashion Council over the last five years. On Sunday, February 9, designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos will take a big step toward becoming household names when the Peter Pilotto for Target collaboration launches nationwide in stores and online.
Much like its main line, this collection is built on graphic mixed prints, architectural silhouettes, and a cornucopia of color. On the apparel end, shoppers will encounter dresses, swimwear (a first for the duo), and separates that here in Boston will likely serve as statement pieces versus loud mix-and-match looks. In the accessories category are various bag styles and some laid-back kicks.
When and where to shop:
The collection's press release notes that most Target stores will carry the line. Historically, Target fashion collaborations have been stocked at the locations closest to downtown Boston, including Somerville, Dorchester, and Watertown—but it never hurts to call your local store to confirm. (UPDATE: Target has released a complete list of stores, including the aforementioned locations as well as more than 20 others.) Doors open at 8am on Sunday, so if you're extremely hungry for these print-heavy pieces, show up in advance of opening.
Know before you go:
With a flurry of high-intensity prints on display, we predict it might take a bit more effort to scope out your favorite items from this collection than at past Target launches. Be sure to have a shortlist (peep the full lookbook with prices) and a mental budget in mind so you can sneak over to checkout without a hitch. Apparel and swimwear ranges from $14.99 to $79.99, while accessories are $16.99 to $39.99.
Racked NY notes: "A lot of the tops and skirts are $29.99 or $34.99, and some of the dresses are priced a little higher at $44.99 or $49.99. The most expensive pieces are the Purple Floral Print dress for $69.99 and the Jacquard dress in the Red Iris Print for $79.99." Too lazy to brave the morning chill?
Per the usual routine, Peter Pilotto can be shopped from the comfort of your couch. Also launching on Sunday, the actual launch time has not been publicized, though Racked National recommends scoping out the site between midnight at 3am. Unlike the typical collab drop, select styles from this collection will also be available on Net-A-Porter—though be warned that you'll be competing with the rest of the planet when browsing this international e-commerce site.
And if you need to make returns...
Target's general rule for returns is 90 days with tags and receipt. But they've been known to change things up during designer collaborations. If there is a specific-to-the-collab return policy, it can be found under the item on your receipt. Look for the words "return by" date or "return within" day range.
