Men's Accessories Brand Tucker Blair Opens Its First Showroom

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On a mission to rid prepsters of nondescript black and brown leather accessories, Tucker Blair has built itself as an e-commerce men's brand focused on colorful needlepoint detailing since its inception in 2008. Owned by Matthew Tara, who formerly worked in venture capital, the Boston-based company has opened a Beacon Hill showroom at 66 Beacon Street overlooking the Common. Styled much like a cozy man cave, the space features old-timey furniture (brown leather sofa, wooden display, antique chest, and American flag included) displaying many iterations of belts, flasks, wallets, key fobs, and more.

In addition to serving as a retail venue, the new headquarters accommodate Tucker Blair's web operations and updated e-commerce site. Similar to other local men's brands boasting a strong online presence while simultaneously maintaining a showroom—Blank Label, Ministry of Supply—Tara views his company as a fashion-tech innovator: "There's no doubt that while we sell some of the most colorful, beautiful belts and accessories, we are at heart a company at the intersection of fashion and technology. Last year for example, we became one of the first companies to partner with Uber to offer same-day delivery."

The showroom hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm.
