Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
On Saturday morning, a cheerful crew of Racked readers packed into the Boston area's first SoulCycle studio—many of which were embarking on their first journey finding their soul. With New York-based instructor Erin Thomas on the podium, yellow-clad SoulCycle staff made the rounds helping everyone get snapped into their bikes in preparation for 45 minutes of pulsing beats.
Somehow juggling the playlist and dishing out SoulCycle mantras ("Find the beat! Think of SoulCycle as your new nightclub!") all while cycling herself, Erin energetically led riders through a grueling workout, even eliciting some cheers from the class. Her always-changing soundtrack featured throwback Jay Z, Fleetwood Mac, and bass-heavy tracks from Diplo and Skrillex. Should you want to experience one of her classes, Erin will be teaching here in Chestnut Hill for the next few days. Stay tuned for future Racked Fit Club workouts.
