Welcome to Spring Forward: Over the next six weeks, we'll be profiling the best new arrivals and trends at some of our favorite local boutiques.
Kris Nations initial earrings, $35
Ku De Ta has remained a fixture on East Broadway, bringing trendy wears and a fun-loving spirit to South Boston long before its recent retail boom. The boutique is known for its wallet-pleasing price points and combination of premium denim, flirty separates, cute dresses, and statement-making accessories—not to mention, it's "Girls Night Out" program, where you round up all your friends and get a storewide discount for a night. Later this spring, the retailer will expand to The Street at Chestnut Hill, bringing with it more brands and a new look (more on that soon!). We spoke with co-owner and buyer Heather O'Connell about her top trends for spring: dainty jewelry, colorful clutches, and summer knits.
Clockwise from top left: Luv AJ earrings, $45; Kris Nations initial earrings, $35; Samantha Faye necklace, $68
"With temps soaring into the 90s and humidity index at a max sometimes it's hard to accessories with heavy jewelry. Delicate pieces are a great trend for warmer months, simple charm necklaces and stud earrings are light and effortless. Plus easily transitional for day to night activities."
Top to bottom: Shiraleah Aminah Clutch, $48; Shiraleah Shakira Clutch, $48; Shiraleah Flo Mini Clutch, $33
"The easiest way to accessorize a simple outfit is to add a punch with a fun bag. These Shiraleah clutches do just that plus they have a chain strap which turns this clutch into a cross body. Perfect for weddings, dining out and girls nights."
Left to right: Pink Martini long cardigan, $104; Free People sweater, $98; Blu Pepper cardigan, $56
"Knit sweaters are a great way to add a layer on a cool summer evening. Perfect over a maxi dress while sipping cocktails beachside or paired backed to white denim and shorts while dining alfresco!"
