Along with tourists and runners from all reaches of the world, this year the Boston Marathon brings a powerful "Boston Strong" sentiment with it, signaling one year of recovery following last April's bombings. Local businesses have risen to the occasion by planning fundraising shopping nights and giving runners fun freebies to make their 26.2 mile trek easier.
Barneys New York will donate 10% of sales from its Copley store all day today, Thursday, April 17, to The One Fund.
Beacon Hill boutiques are dedicating their Third Thursday shopping event this month to The One Fund, with stores like Good and Moxie donating a percentage of the night's sales to The One Fund marathon team. Stop into your favorite shops from 5pm to 8pm tonight.
Boston magazine is continuing to sell its popular tribute poster from last year's recovery efforts, with proceeds going to The One Fund. The $20 double sided poster (above) features the cover image from the magazine's May 2013 issue. Buy here.
Equinox is treating runners to a host of goodies this month. Enjoy either a pre- or post-marathon sports massage with a 15% discount on all spa services through the month of April—and if you bring your bib, you can grab a complimentary "Boston Strong" t-shirt at any of the three local clubs.
G2O and Emerge Salon and Spa will both honor fellow stylist and Marathon victim Celeste Corcoran (and her daughter Sydney) by donating 20% of its proceeds through tomorrow, April 18, to the Celeste and Sydney Fund.
This evening from 7pm to 9pm, Intermix will donate 10% of its proceeds to The One Fund in addition to offering customers a "spend more, save more" offer. Tiffany Ortiz and Kristi Gomes are hosting; champagne and light bites will be offered courtesy of Strega Waterfront.
Ministry of Supply is welcoming customers into its Leather District showroom this weekend to explore new spring colors for its menswear collection (Friday and Saturday, 11am to 6pm; 105 South Street), but it's also offering runners a free pair of its coffee-infused and odor-fighting Atlas socks when you bring your bib. Running brand Right on Hereford, Left on Boylston will donate $5 of every purchase made by a charity runner to the charity that runner is supporting. You can find the line in City Sports, Marathon Sports, online, and at select hotels (Copley Plaza, Revere Hotel).
On Monday, Saks Fifth Avenue will donate 10% of Boston sales (up to $25,000) to The One Fund.
