Outlet shopping has managed to remain a suburban tradition around New England, but Somerville's Assembly Row is now in the last phase of bringing those bargains to an urban environment—albeit, a mini city built basically from the ground up. While Saks OFF 5TH is one of the retail anchors, there are some notable brands set to open throughout the rest of this month, starting today with the Nike Factory Store.

The development's official "Grand Opening Season" kicks off May 30, but as soon as May 22, outlets will slowly begin welcoming customers into their spaces. That mix includes several athletic giants (adidas, Converse Factory Store, PUMA, Reebok), Brooks Brothers, Charlotte Russe, Clarks, Le Creuset, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Steve Madden, and OFF 5TH. Come fall, not only is the MBTA Orange Line station scheduled to open, but so are the J.Crew and LOFT outlet stores.
