Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Ever heard of a pop-up museum? Last summer you may have interacted with one when Design Museum Boston launched its "Street Seats: Reimagining the Public Bench" exhibit around Fort Point Channel. The local arts collaborative has finally set its roots in a permanent headquarters space at 70 East India Row, home to a quirky gift shop in addition to offices and a gallery. Items run the gamut from Design Museum Boston t-shirts ($20), tote bags ($15), and exhibition books (for example, its current "Green Patriots Posters" book for $30), all the way to home goods from partner and JP boutique Room 68, like the Hexy Wall Shelf pictured above ($300) to 3D printed jewelry from Nervous System ($40-$75).
