Here's some stellar Friday news for Tom Ford beauty devotees: Saks Fifth Avenue is now home to a new counter, the only of its kind here in New England. The enticing display combines ivory surfaces with Makassar Ebony wood, warmed by gold touches throughout and radiant white light. Cosmetics sit front and center, with a separate nook to sample Tom Ford's Private Blend collection (complex artisan scents including Tobacco Vanille, Cafe Rose, and Jasmine Rouge, $215) and signature Black Orchid fragrances (as well as his latest Velvet Orchid release, $122).
Highlights on the makeup side include Ford's beloved lipstick ($49), with an essential oil-rich formula, highly pigmented colors selected by the designer himself, and a pleasing chamomile vanilla scent. Lacquered lip glosses ($45) are equally pigmented, with even the nude hue proving opaque in coverage. Eye shadows are packaged in quad palettes ($78), each intended to create a particular look, made in Italy from finely milled powders that feel silky to the touch. Another hit is the perfectly packaged brow sculptor ($42), boasting a creamy formula with a beveled calligraphy tip, brush on the opposite end, and interior sharpener.
