Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When you're bikini-clad and floating on an inflatable device somewhere, it can be hard to remember that fall is just around the corner. But this is New England, and keep our sensibilities about us, we must, as evidenced by the Canada Goose puffer jacket display we spied at The Tannery earlier this week.

That's why Jaimie Sparks, one half of the sibling duo behind the South Boston fashion outpost Pretty Reckless, says that the concept of "blending"—working in a bit of what's to come with what you have now—is the key to making your wardrobe work between seasons.

"We've seen red come back in a big way—think bordeaux and burgundy—which you can wear now as an accent color either via accessory or in one statement piece. Midi skirts have returned; wear them now with a crop top, or cozy them up in the fall with sweater. We've also seen sweaters show up as crop tops, and those look great paired with vegan leather (also huge). There's lots of texture, in general—something you can rock no matter what the weather is like."

To celebrate this stylish balancing act, Pretty Reckless is offering Racked Boston readers 10% off their entire purchase through the end of July. Puffer jackets, though...we think we'll wait on those for now.—Karyn Polewaczyk
