Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to Racked Boston's search for the city's hottest trainer. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile eight smoking locals—fitness experts who not only look hot in spandex, but can make you look amazing too. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which readers vote for their favorites. Let the games begin!
With a name like George Foreman, you gotta be good. George Foreman III is better: he's a former professional boxer and current gym owner who got his start training at a youth and community center. And despite his myriad accomplishments, he still admits to getting nervous when he steps in the ring. Should we be surprised he's originally from Humble, Texas?
Modesty aside, this is a man who knows his business. During his heavyweight career, George was an undefeated 16-0. And the sport is, of course, in his blood: he's the second son of two-time heavyweight champ George Foreman. Still, his eponymous Fort Point venture, The Gym by George Foreman III, surprises acolytes with its welcoming vibe. "We are a family," George says. "It's hard not to get in shape if you become part of our community."
When it comes to his life mantra, George practices what he preaches: "Eat right, sleep right, train smart, safety first, and discipline in everything you do inside and outside of the ring." And he's found the two keys to our heart: not only is he a Sweetgreen fanatic -- "I eat two salads at a time" -- but he's also a Game of Thrones obsessive. Maybe a Season 5 ringside viewing party is in order?
