Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

New to Boston or simply looking for new stomping grounds? Summer is the perfect time to explore our dozens of neighborhoods, so for your shopping ease, we'll be mapping the top shops in each area over the coming weeks.

Ah, good ol' Parkway—that's what we Boston natives call the cluster of Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and West Roxbury neighborhoods. A fresh crop of retail and restaurants has started to bring non-locals to the area, which is south of downtown and right beyond Fenway and Mission Hill. From Centre Street in JP to Centre Street in West Roxbury (yup, same one), here are nine shops we think are worth a trip through some of Boston's loveliest residential neighborhoods (just make sure you bring the GPS—no alphabetical street grid around these parts).
